Equipment

You’re probably wondering what will set the Renfrew Strength and Conditioning Center (RSCC) apart for other gyms in the area. Well, there are probably a few things which we will discuss in other posts, but the main thing will be equipment. The first thing you will notice when you enter the RSCC is the equipment that is not there, notably (traditional) cardio equipment. The RSCC will not have treadmills, ellipticals, stair masters, etc…

What you will see when you walk into the RCSS will be squat racks, lifting platforms, loads of barbells and weights, benches, dumbbells and other strength training equipment. The other stand out area will be the turf track. Not only will the track be an area for short sprints, but it will also have tires, sleds and other implements to use for strength and conditioning training.

Squat racks at the RSCC will be similar to this.

So, “How will I do my cardio?” you might ask. At the RSCC we believe that High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is one of the best ways to do conditioning and cardio. The track and equipment provided is ideal for HIIT. That’s not to say that longer duration cardio is not important too and for that we have bikes and rowers. Also, if running or jogging is more your thing, we would encourage you to take it to the streets and hiking trails and enjoy the fresh air and sights of nature.

Sled pulls are great for conditioning and strength building.
