Megan Apostoleris

Meet Coach Megan. She is extremely passionate about health, fitness and nutrition and it is her dream come true to own her own CrossFit gym. Megan has been “CrossFit-ing” since 2008 and regularly competes in CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting. Megan is a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer (CF-L2) and an NCCP certified Weightlifting Coach. She also has a Bachelor of Journalism and a PhD in goal crushing. Coach Megan cares about people. She leads by example and thrives on seeing people reach their full potential by taking control of the controllable: their attitude and their effort.

John Garden

Meet Coach John. John is a life-long weightlifter, a former member of Canada’s National Squad and a pillar in the Nova Scotia weightlifting community. John is an NCCP certified Weightlifting Coach, an IWF Level 2 Official and a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1). While continuing to compete in Weightlifting, Coach John also added CrossFit to his training repertoire in 2022 and is loving it more and more everyday. 

Brandon Horne

Meet Coach Brandon (Coach Bacon). Brandon has been involved in the strength community for over a decade. Brandon is a Certified Personal Trainer with over 15 certificates in Sports Nutrition, strength and conditioning and corrective exercise. Brandon’s true passion is youth development. He  runs the CrossFit Teens program here at Renfrew. No matter where you are on your fitness journey, Coach Brandon would love to help get you Renfrew Strong!.

Matthew MacNeil

Meet Coach Matt(y). Matt has been involved with Renfrew since day 1; back when it was a group of powerlifters lifting in Mark’s (the former owner) garage and his love for training and the gym has grown ever since. He was originally a powerlifter, who made the transition to Crossfit in 2019. Since then, he has competed in many local and online competitions and has became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1). You can be sure to find a wide range of music when Matty is the coach and he strives to make sure that the vibes in class are as amazing as the beats!. 

Stewart Cook

Meet Coach Stew. Stew has been a member of Renfrew since day one; back when it was just a group of guys working out in a friends garage during rugby off season. Coach Stew has been doing CrossFit since 2016 and most recently completed his CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1). Coach Stew has played many different sports over the years, including rugby for most of his adult life, giving him plenty of experience in speed and agility training, strength training, stretching and mobility, as well as injury prevention and treatment. Coach Stew is passionate about helping people meet and exceed their goals and help them see the long-lasting effects of a healthy lifestyle.

Shawn Quigley

Meet Coach Shawn. Shawn found his passion for CrossFit and fitness in January  2022. Since then he has become a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1) with a focused interest in Olympic Weightlifting. After seeing first hand the impact of CrossFit, Shawn became a coach because of his desire to promote long term health and wellness through fitness.

Brennen Hartling

Meet Coach Brennen. Brennen has been doing Crossfit since 2020 and most recently completed his Crossfit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1). Brennen grew up playing competitive hockey and has now switched his focus to Crossfit and Olympic Weightlifting. Brennen has competed in local weightlifting/Crossfit competitions and looks forward to sharing his passion for both with all members!
